What is Breast Lift?

Breast Lift or uplift surgery — clinically referred to as Mastopexy — is a surgical process performed by a plastic surgeon to improve the shape and appearance of your sagging and loose breasts. It raises the breasts by removing excess loose skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. It also changes nipple higher on your chest wall.

This is cosmetic procedure only, not chosen for medical reasons.

Which are the types of Breast Lift?

Breast lift differs to four types based on incisions that can be made in the surgery:

•       Crescent breast lift: This type of surgery is recommended for who only needs a simple lift. It is done by making a single crescent-shaped incision that runs along the external edge of the areola. The advantage of this type breast lift is that it offers next to zero scarring as it is covered up inside the darker skin around the nipple. However, the uplift will be minor, this type is best for women who have minimal sagging.

•       Peri-areolar Breast lift (Donut): This type is also known as donut lift. It is prescribed for those who wish to get treatment for minor to mild sagging. It works by making a circular incision around the areola, which ensures minimal scarring and a subtle lift. It includes the change of a minimal amount of tissue and no rearrangement or movement of the inner breast.

•       Vertical Breast Lift: This surgery is performed by making two cuts; one is around the areola, and second from the areola down to the natural edge of the breast. The vertical incision procedure removes more tissue and reshapes the breast more noticeable. Despite the fact that scarring may be more than other techniques, it is an appropriate technique for women with moderate sagging.

•       Anchor Breast Lift: It’s the most generally performed procedure for those who wish to have a more clear lift. It includes three cuts that together structure an anchor shape. One of three cuts is made around the areola, the second one down towards the crease of the natural breast, and the final one along the crease. This grants for a more dramatic outcome to the lift. It is an absolute solution for women with critical drooping or sagging. This type of surgery is viewed as more traditional alternative in breast lift surgeries, as the surgeon can remove a significant amount of tissue from the breast, comparatively to other surgeries.
