He was supervised by eminent urologist Dr. H Sanjay Bhat during his super specialty training in DNB Genitourinary Surgery (Urology) at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, which he completed in 2008.
After that, in April of 2016, he moved to Rajagiri Hospitals after serving as a professor of urology at AIMS, Kochi, where he was hired as faculty that same year.

Dr. Balagopal has trained and mentored many postgraduate students, demonstrating his dedication to forming the future wave of medical professionals.
