Dr. Venugopal K. Menon graduated from India's Armed Forces Medical College In 1979 with a medical degree.
He completed his master's degree in orthopedic surgery at the same university after five years of service in the Indian Army Medical Corps.
He received training at the prestigious Spine Center at Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune, where he gained invaluable knowledge and experience in the treatment and care of the spine.
He continued his education in the UK, earning an MCh from Liverpool University in 1992, which improved his knowledge and proficiency in orthopedic surgery.
He visited several esteemed Spine Centers in Europe Before leaving for India, such as Edinburgh's Princess Margaret Rose Hospital, St. Gallen's Canton Hospital, and Institut Calot in Berck Sur Mer, where he completed his AO fellowship training at Zurich University Hospital.
He furthered his education in orthopedics and advanced surgical techniques by earning a Master's degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Menon worked at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center in Kochi, India, as the Chairman and Head of the Department, Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics, and Consultant in Spine Surgery.
He moved to the Sultanate of Oman in 2010, where he was employed as a Senior Consultant in Orthopaedics at Khoula Hospital under the Ministry of Health. He was instrumental in the establishment of a cutting-edge Spine Service at this hospital.
His leadership and commitment to advancing spinal care and expertise in the region were demonstrated during his tenure as Chairman of AOSpine Asia-Pacific.
